Analysts from Kaspersky Lab studied job listings on 155 cybercriminal darknet forums. In total, they were able to review about a thousand advertisements from January 2020 to June 2022. They specifically focused on messages related to long-term and continuous work.

Most often, hacker teams were looking for employees, with a strong demand for developers who can write malicious code (61% of all job listings). These developers are considered the most expensive specialists in the darknet, with salaries reaching up to $20,000 per month. The next most in-demand roles were 'attackers' (those who carry out hacks) and designers. Overall, the median salary in the shadowy IT market ranges from $1,300 to $4,000.

The hiring process in the darknet appears quite standard. Job seekers are required to submit resumes, send portfolios, complete test assignments, and even participate in interviews. After that, they are usually offered full-time remote work with a flexible schedule. Just like in legal industries, all of this is done to retain qualified professionals.

It's clear to anyone that big money is only on the internet.
