A Toronto woman has been charged with stealing 79 POS terminals from various businesses and veterinary clinics. 37-year-old Crystalley Hollihan was able to steal this number of devices in six months - from October 30, 2022 to April 1, 2023.

Investigators believe that after the theft, the terminals were used to make fraudulent transactions through refunds to various credit and debit cards. However, the total amount that Hollihan managed to take possession of is not specified; it is only known that it exceeds five thousand Canadian dollars (it can be many times higher)

Police do not yet know whether the woman had any accomplices, but will try to determine through the ongoing investigation. Hollihan herself asked the court for bail, but she was denied. Security officials suggested that Canadian companies immediately report lost or stolen POS terminals, and also lock them in a separate safe at the end of the day.

A new level is unlocked.
