In many cities there are cameras everywhere. They are installed by both the state and private individuals. Most of them are equipped with night infrared (hereinafter referred to as IR) illumination, providing them with visibility at night.

The main source of IR radiation is the Sun and the Earth, so in order for the photos to have a good picture, it should not be illuminated by anything, all cameras, civilian video cameras, smartphones, etc. equipped with infrared filters - pieces of glass made of material that blocks IR radiation.

The point is clear. CCTV cameras illuminate themselves at night, and we don’t even see it. Moreover, our cameras do not see this.

Now to the point. We need to buy an old camera, or even better, a video camera (they can be easily disassembled). So, we disassemble the camera or camera and remove the IR filter from there. It is located in the area of the lens or even the matrix. In older devices it is quite easy to remove, it is not fixed in anything, and there is no need to touch the optical part. It looks like the attachment: a glass shimmering blue-red-transparent. Instead of an IR filter, you need to insert a transparent piece of glass (protection for a smartphone, for example). This is done so that autofocus works properly. Putting it back together. We get a camera without an IR filter. Now she shoots poorly during the day due to natural sources of IR radiation, the image is overexposed, the colors are distorted.



We go outside at night and look at the image provided by the camera. We see a light area on the display that we cannot see with our eyes - we conclude: there is a camera with night vision.



You can modify this device by assembling your own NVD from it. We buy IR LEDs, thermal paste, radiators, adjustable voltage reduction module, crown, switch, wiring. We solder everything according to the diagram: plus crowns - module, soldered from plus to plus, minus to minus - LED (it is soldered to the radiator and coated with thermal paste as it gets hot) - button - minus crowns. The module is adjustable depending on the LEDs, the number of LEDs is selected depending on the module because with a large number of them, it can heat up. Place everything on the body so that nothing falls off.

A scientist in the United States has invented augmented reality glasses that can detect any cameras and display their field of view. As far as I remember, they detect some radiation from them and can accurately determine which way the camera is pointing. These glasses look like ordinary sunglasses externally. You can search online; perhaps they have been on sale for a long time. I haven't personally checked. The manual is certainly excellent. Respect.

The point is to catch IR radiation? Why take something apart? DVRs with IR lights and night mode, quietly show the IR image, no need to pull anything out.
