Four individuals have been apprehended and accused in connection with a significant cyber-fraud case targeting a resident in Aberdeenshire.

Law enforcement revealed that the victim, a 59-year-old individual, had their online finances specifically targeted, leading to the theft of a six-figure sum of money.

Following an investigation, arrests were made at residences in London, Leeds, and Lancashire.

Charges were filed against three men, aged 18, 33, and 47, along with a 38-year-old woman.

The inquiry was conducted by officers from Police Scotland's North East Division's Cyber-Enabled Crime Team and involved three days of enforcement actions.

Detective Sergeant Craig Murray, from the Cyber-Enabled team, stated, "Police Scotland is dedicated to safeguarding the public from cyber-enabled organized crime and pursuing those responsible. Anyone seeking prevention advice can find information on the Police Scotland website, and if you have concerns or information, please contact officers via 101."
