Attackers change passwords so that the original owners of accounts cannot regain access to them.
Hackers have compromised more than 500,000 Activision accounts, causing many players to lose access and any ability to recover their accounts. The hack was first reported by oRemyy on Twitter. This was then confirmed by other insiders such as TheGamingRevolution, Prototype Warehouse and Okami13.
It is highly recommended that you change your password and set up two-factor authentication. If you use the same password for multiple services, be sure to change them, as data breaches like these are often used to hack other sites.

An Activision account is required to play various parts of the Call of Duty series, including Warzone and mobile version, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Crash Team Racing, Angry Birds and others.
